Subnautica begins with an escape pod drifting on an alien ocean. Your ship, the Aurora, has crashed on planet 4546B and you appear to be the only survivor. With a fabricator, a scanner and very little air, you have to explore the water around you to stay alive and work out what really happened to the Aurora.
Released in full in 2018 after a long Early Access run, it is famous for turning the ocean into something both beautiful and terrifying. There are no levels and very little hand holding, just a world that gets darker and stranger the deeper you swim.

Subnautica Gameplay Overview
You scan wreckage to unlock blueprints, gather resources like titanium and copper, and craft tools, food and water. Over time you build habitats on the seafloor, the small Seamoth submarine, the Prawn Suit and the giant Cyclops. Each upgrade lets you dive deeper into biomes like the Kelp Forest, Jellyshroom Cave and Lost River, where huge Leviathans patrol. Survival, Freedom, Hardcore and Creative modes change how punishing it feels.
